“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time;
they just have the heart.” ~Elizabeth Andrew
We have volunteer opportunities to match everyone's personalities, skills, interests and time. From cuddling to cleaning, grooming to walking, cleaning to preparing Adoption Packets, we have a job where you can benefit the animals.
You must be 17 years of age to volunteer unaccompanied. Please come out to the shelter to fill out a volunteer application.
Our friendly staff will answer your questions, explain our needs and introduce you to our wonderful pets waiting for their forever homes. Please stay tuned for updates as we expand and enhance our volunteer program.
We are in immediate need of help with transporting adoptable animals to not only local veterinarians but also surrounding rescue groups and sometimes adopters. You become the transport-angel to get these deserving pets one step closer to having a forever home.
Occasionally, we coordinate "relay transports" where you only need to drive the pet a short distance to another volunteer who will take them from there.
Being a part of this benevolent, caring TEAM is one of the most rewarding experiences in rescue.
Call us today to "get on board" with the transport volunteers!
Don't worry -- Not all transport animals are this big!

Other Rescue Efforts
As we tend to the health care needs of more and more animals we are keenly aware of our "new normal." Our kennels are fuller than ever and will remain so as the deserving animals in our care are waiting for their adoption to forever homes or for transfer to our rescue partners.
We are in need of fosters to help care for our mamas and babies, our special needs animals, our seniors and any pet in need of a restful break from the commotion and chaos of a full shelter.
If you would like to become a foster family for any of our wonderful animals, please contact Kim Nave, our Administrative Specialist to see how you can help.
We are anxious to grow this program so we can save even more lives. Please help us help them.
Public Pet Services
Contacting Rescue Groups is a time intensive job and labor of love for the Administrative Specialist and other volunteers. Rescue Groups play an important role in helping us find homes for wonderful adoptable pets. Unlike other animal sheltering facilities, we don't make Rescue Groups jump through hoops to take in one of our animals which makes this an instant gratification, rewarding activity.
Contacting Rescue groups that are a good match to some of our animals lies primarily with the Shelter Manager. However, all Staff and Volunteers have a hand in the success of this program.
Pictures are taken, emails sent, calls made and transport arranged. Staff, Volunteers, and Board Directors volunteer their own time and expense to transport animals to the waiting arms of Rescue Group members. Hill Country Humane Society works with accredited and respected groups throughout Texas and nearby States.
Hill Country Humane Society provides reduced cost microchipping and registration to the public on designated days of the week. Health Clinics offering low-cost vaccinations and other services are hosted several times throughout the year. For pet owners whose pet has passed, we offer pet cremation services for a fee.
For more information on any of these services contact us at 512-793-5463 or email email@example.com for more information.
